Hidden cost

War is an opportunity to make money, and not only for Haliburton. In Beirut, the price of local fruits and vegetables has increased by 100% as disaster capitalists of all sides and sizes have seized the opportunity to make a quick buck. A large number of people live hand to mouth in Lebanon, and they have not been able to work in the past week. This article (in Arabic by Rasha Abu Zeki in Al Akhbar tells many stories, like that of the old woman trying to cook a meal for 5 persons with only 5,000 Liras ($3) to spare. This is the real sadness of Lebanon.
